 2018 Preview 


       North Sand Mountain completed the 2017 season with a 8-3 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region seven, the Bison earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. North Sand Mountain's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Randolph County by a score of 42-6.

       Since 2010, North Sand Mountain has gone a combined 52-36. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 2A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, North Sand Mountain has managed to compile a record of 101-148. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 2A and 268th in the AHSAA.




       The Bison are led by head coach Keith Kirby who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-8 over the past two seasons at North Sand Mountain. Under his direction the Bison have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Kirby.

       Coach Kirby's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 14-8 (63.6%).

       The North Sand Mountain Bison will play in Class 2A region eight during the 2018 season. The Bison may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 3A to 2A. They will compete in region eight this year.

       The Bison enter the 2018 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak. They have won 6 straight games on their home turf at Lloyds Dobbins Field.

       The Bison will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region eight this season.

       The Bison open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Dade County GA on Friday, August 24.

       North Sand Mountain and Dade County GA have met a total of 13 times on the football field. The Bison have a 6-7-0 record against Dade County GA. They last met in 2017 with North Sand Mountain winning by a score of 28-27.
